GTCO Fashion Weekend 2022: Some of the Best Street Style as Spotted by Victor Edeh

The Guaranty Trust (GTCO) Fashion Weekend in Lagos, Nigeria made a comeback after a two-year break to provide fashion and style enthusiasts from all over the world with unmatched fashion experiences. Attendees showed off and showed out in the best outfits that symbolized individual self-expression.

The yearly fashion event blends elements of international fashion trends, the finer details of African street wear styles, and creativity to produce one of the most enjoyable experiences in the fashion retail industry.

"The Future of Fashion Retail" was the theme of this year's event, which took place on November 12 and 13, 2022, at the GTCentre in Oniru, Lagos. It had a streetwear village, free shop booths, runway shows, and masterclasses. Additionally, everyone who came was in for a unique shopping experience because indigenous small businesses had the chance to display their clothing lines and fashion accessories.

Fruche, Adama Paris, Studio 189, Dapper Dan, and other well-known GTCO fashion week designers were also represented at this year's fashion weekend. Other creative and notable brands who stunned the runway show with their interesting designs include; Rich Mnisi, Nkwo, Ituen Basi, Pepper Row,  Huishan Zhang, Loza Maleombo, Romeo Hunte and more. Style enthusiasts and other fashion designers who weren't showcasing their work sat back and admired the stunning views that each model brought to the runway.

It is worth noting that, the 2022 GTCO Fashion Weekend, which is the 5th edition,  also featured over 120 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who displayed their wares. In a comment from the 2022 GTCO Fashion Weekend organizers, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Segun Agbaje, said: “Fashion is primarily a form of self-expression, and in light of everything that has happened since our last Fashion Weekend event in 2019, we are happy to be able to explore the possibilities within the fashion industry locally and abroad, particularly as people increasingly return outdoors and get to experiment with new fashion and style ideas.”

The 2022 GTCO Fashion Weekend was indeed a comeback after its last held show in 2019. However, laying  emphasis on one of the event's goal; The Group Chief Executive Officer buttressed about the SMEs stating: “We have kept our vision of supporting Small and Medium Enterprises in focus through the uncertain times of the past two years. Just like our core values as a financial institution, our promise of Promoting Enterprise will never change. We will continue to lend the full weight of our franchise to improving the lives and livelihoods of every African, not only through servicing the full range of our customers’ financial needs with innovative products and services, but also by creating and championing initiatives that help businesses and economies thrive.”
