South African Star - Focalistic Globalizing the Amapiano Genre

Music is a fundamental part of lives, causing tremendous impact in all that concerns us globally. Consider the impact that Amapiano has had during its rise. For some years, the genre has been rocking the South African streets, and it appears to be influencing other genres as well. The most notable example is South African Hip Hop music. However, the sound has spread throughout Africa. A major star in the mix of this is Focalistic.


Lethabo Sebetso, popularly known as Focalistic, is another famous Mzansi artist who made big moves in 2020 that impacted his career. He is a recording artist and entertainer who made his debut in music in 2016.

His single "Fak'mali" debuted number 1 on YFM Hip Hop music charts. In early 2020, he established his own record label 18 Area Holdings in partnership with The Vth Seasons. On 10 April 2020, his Extended Play Quarantined was released. In April 2020, his single "Ke Star" featuring Virgo Deep was released. "Ke Star" was certified gold with sales of 25 000 copies.

His remix "Ke Star," featuring Davido and Virgo Deep, was released globally in February 2021. The single was a huge international success, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart in the United States. He was nominated for seven All Africa Music Awards in 2021, including Best Male Artiste, Artiste of the Year, Best African Collaborations, Best African Dance, Best African Electro, Breakout Artiste of the Year, and Song of the Year.

On May 1, he began his North American Tour, which will take him to 12 cities, including Washington, D.C., Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Minnesota, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, and New York.
